Pulse Practicum

Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc
June 11 – 17, 2010

The pulse is a mirror of the state of one’s health. Prana flows from the outer skin to the deepest organ. Under each of the three fingers are three doors that tap into inner organs so that one can be in tune with the individual’s prana. Reading the pulse is an art of deeper meditation. Vasant Lad will teach you to access the prana to become more intuitive with the pulse. Learn to assess the states of the doshas, organs and tissues, the stages of disease, and a person’s mental state. Learn the theory behind the levels of the pulse and be guided through specific aspects of pulse assessment by Vasant Lad and qualified Institute staff.

Panchakarma Theory and Practicum

Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc
June 25 – July 8, 2010 (2 weeks)

Panchakarma is a therapeutic Ayurvedic cleansing process that is deeply rejuvenating. Used in India for thousands of years to detoxify the body and mind on a deep cellular level, you will come away with an understanding how the doshas, toxins, and deep-seated emotional patterns move into the deep tissues and affect cellular intelligence over time. While cleansing these deep-seated toxins from the body, panchakarma also helps to purify the mind of longstanding emotional patterns. Ayurvedic cleansing includes preparatory measures such as a special diet, oil massages, steam treatments, herbs, and other time-honored methods.

Vasant Lad and the Institute’s panchakarma staff present the theoretical foundation of a successful panchakarma program and also give practical, hands-on experience of this ancient art. You will practice panchakarma procedures on each other under the guidance of Vasant Lad and our experienced team. Learn how to apply specific techniques that are suitable for each dosha. Incorporate the importance of cultivating a daily routine including dietary, spiritual, and lifestyle practices that maintain health and rejuvenate the body after panchakarma.

This 74 hour intensive includes 30 hours of practical hands-on training in the techniques of abhyanga, shirodhara, swedana, nasya and other methods utilized in panchakarma.
